So you got that error message, but everything was installed successfully (with the same LinuxSampler installer version that is)? Created attachment 72 [details]
Installer fails on OS X 10.10.2

hey, i have exatly the same screen as Foster uploaded on the 14th of April i have a question for you Foster : as a workaround, how can i find the 1.0.0 version that you succeeded installing ? That's a bug concerning the installer only, not the actual software being installed. It will presumably be fixed next month. You "could" extract and install the files manually in the meantime. Otherwise use one of older snapshots (before January 18th 2015), which did not have an installer at all. Those older snapshots had to be installed manually. There is a README file in those older snapshots describing where you should place the files to. Thanks for the infos ! > You "could" extract and > install the files manually in the meantime for the record, this might actually be possibe, for example with that http://www.charlessoft.com/ or maybe plain command line actually http://osxdaily.com/2011/09/26/show-package-contents-unavailable-extract-pkg-files-without-installing-them/ cherlessoft succeeds in showing everything inside package, however it won't succeed the files extraction Correction : i am successful in installing more or less everyhting, i think - i didn't test everything extensively, but it seems i was able to manually put each file where it should, and for now gigedit.app launches, Fantasia just says there is a database error (well i didn't do anything there) and qsampler can't launch server when contacting the linuxsampelr command line app BUT i manually launched the linuxsampler commandlineapp and then qsampelr doesn't complain anymore - Fantasia still does though. OS X comes with a command line tool to extract the files of .pkg archives. No need to install 3rd party tools for that. In case QSampler did not launch linuxsampler automatically then you installed the linuxsampler binary at another place than the latest installer does. In that case simply go to the settings of QSampler and adjust the path to linuxsampler there. It's worth the hassle, because otherwise you might also need to kill the sampler process manually once in a while. The database error of JSampler means that you haven't created the instrument database file yet. If you don't know what an instrument database is, then you can probably just ignore the message. > OS X comes with a command line tool to extract the files of .pkg archives
i tried that first, but it extracted the original pkg into a lot of smaller pkgs, which were all broken (impossible to extract). I probably could have succeeded if i knew how to use that tool, but it's a bit beyond my reach... The app i talk about is probably built with that tool, but it is very convenient and efficient for noobs like me.
About QSampler : right, i got the path slightly wrong :)
As for the rest, indeed i need to learn use linuxsampler first..
The Mac installer had been fixed today for OS X 10.10 "Yosemite". You may download the latest snapshot (2015-06-11 and younger) now. (En réponse au commentaire 11)

I can confirm that it did install on Yosemite 10.10.4. (however there is a conflict which i will address in a separate discussion)
