I tried to play the free Salamander Grand Piano (direct link, 1.3GB,
http://freepats.zenvoid.org/Piano/SalamanderGrandPiano.tar.bz2) in Linuxsampler
and noticed that the sustain is either on or off.

Here's what my piano sends:
 24:0   Control change          0, controller 64, value 0
 24:0   Control change          1, controller 64, value 0
 24:0   Active Sensing
 24:0   Control change          0, controller 64, value 48
 24:0   Control change          1, controller 64, value 48
 24:0   Active Sensing
 24:0   Control change          0, controller 64, value 127
 24:0   Control change          1, controller 64, value 127
 24:0   Active Sensing
 24:0   Control change          0, controller 64, value 48
 24:0   Control change          1, controller 64, value 48
 24:0   Active Sensing
 24:0   Control change          0, controller 64, value 0
 24:0   Control change          1, controller 64, value 0

It sends only three states, 0, 48 and 127. With both 0 and 48 sustain is off,
only with 127 it's on.
